The challenge
St Barts Social Badminton Club plays an important role in the local badminton community — a friendly, non-league club that gives adults a welcoming way into the sport.
By 2023, membership had fallen to a level that was not sustainable, putting the club’s future at risk.
The committee needed a way to reach new players, increase awareness locally, and restore financial stability through higher attendance.
Our approach
Built on Webflow’s free tier hosting, the site focused on one clear objective — help people find and join St Barts with zero ongoing costs.
We identified two key discovery channels — Google Search / Maps and the Newbury District Badminton Association (NDBA) — and ensured the club was listed on both.
Content was kept simple and inclusive, highlighting the club’s friendly ethos, term dates, and “just turn up and play” policy.
We also set up a shared Google Groups email so multiple volunteers could handle enquiries efficiently.
The results
The impact was immediate.
Within weeks of launch, the club was appearing in local Google searches and receiving new enquiries weekly.
Average attendance rose from 2 courts utilised to all 4 with players waiting — more than doubling numbers.
The treasurer reported a turnaround in club finances and a renewed sense of energy among members.
